Recently, Google came up with Google Cloud Print, which can make the whole printing process very simple. The Android or iPhone user just needs to work inside Chrome or a particular application which supports Google Cloud Print. This tool can easily route the print command from Google Chrome or compatible mobile applications on iPhone or Android to your printer over the Internet.

Setting Up Your Printer for Google Cloud Print

Before a user plans to print anything, it is necessary to set up the printer for this tool. Google has also provided users with a list of printers which come with built in Google Cloud Print. This list can help users select a compatible printer in future for Cloud printing. Google is also offering many ways to use some older printers that don’t even support this feature. Google is calling such printers ‘Classic Printers’. You can use such printers by simply logging into your Google account from Chrome. You need to open Google Chrome’s settings. Just click on the ‘menu’ button in the upper right corner of the browser.

You will see a new window pop up. You need to choose Settings and simply click on ‘Show Advanced Settings’. You have to scroll down and select Google Cloud Print. Click on Sign In to Google Cloud Print. Now, you need to click on ‘Manage Print Settings’ buttons. You will be able to see all the printers connected to your computer. You need to select those printers which are connected to Google Cloud Print from this printers’ list. This will be visible on the left side of the window. You need to click on ‘Add Printers’ to add new ones. You can also use ‘Change Printer Settings’ to modify the printers’ list.

Printing to Google Cloud Print Using a Chrome Browser

Once you’ve gone through all the steps, you will be ready to print from your Google Chrome browser. You just have to open the browser and find the web page you want to print. The next step is to click on the Menu button and select Print. When you click Print, you will be able to see a Chrome dialog box. It will ask you to sign into a Google account. You need to sign into the same Google account which you used to set up this service on your computer. It might take you to a page asking you to add more printers. You can cancel this page, and a list of printers will be visible.

After you select a printer, a new box will open with various printing options to choose from. Some of these include duplex printing, paper quality and so on. Once you’ve set up the right customizations for your print job, you can click ‘Print’. Google Cloud Print will send a specific image or document to the printer. As mentioned earlier, users can print from any application which is compatible with Google Cloud Print. There are many applications in the Google Play Store and Apple Store that are compatible.
