Have you ever wanted to install an App from the iTunes store but you couldn’t because it was available in your country? If so, this tip is for you. There are many good apps on the store that are not available for the use of international users. For example, if you live outside United States, you will not be able to install Apple iBook apps on your iPhone or iPad. Also, you cannot download Google Earth, as these apps are only made available to the iTunes store in US. Both of these are free apps, but still, it is sad that you cannot install and download these apps from iTunes as they are linked to a country other than yours. To add insult to injury, you will probably see these apps in your store, but won’t be able to download them, due to the reasons mentioned above.

Gift Ideas for the Techie
With the holidays coming up, many shoppers are hitting the stores to find gifts. If you are trying to shop for a techie, and you are not a techie yourself, you may feel overwhelmed by all of the possible gadgets, software, tablets, etc on the market today. Remember though, gifts for techie lovers don’t actually have to be techie themselves. For example, have you thought about buying them something to put on their computer desk to look at all day? You can now make your own bobbleheads, so why not treat your tech lover to one to sit in prime position next to their monitor? Or, if you are a little wised up on technology yourself, perhaps you can look into something to add to their collection of gadgets. Let’s take a look at some great gift ideas, in multiple price ranges, for the techie.
Microsoft Surface Tablet Review
I had a chance to do some research and play around with a Microsoft Surface tablet. The Surface tablet is the newest tablet from Microsoft. It is a little bit bigger than an iPad, uses the Windows RT OS, and offers a snap on keyboard.
Surface Specs
As I noted above, the surface is about the same size as an iPad. It is 10.81 x 6.77 x 0.37in and weighs in at 1.5 pounds. The screen itself is 10.6″ and the resolution goes up to 1366x768px. It employs a quad-core NVIDIA CPU and comes with 2GB of Ram. When it comes to storage, there are 2 options: 32GB and 64GB. It has 2 cameras, one on the front and one on the back. It also has a number of input ports. It has a Full-size USB 2.0, microSDXC card slot, a Headset jack, a HD video out port, and a Cover port.
Why I am Not Excited about the iPad Mini
I have had a lot of time to play around with different tablets. I own a Kindle Fire, I have used 2 different versions of the iPad at work, and have even had the chance to play around with the Nook a bit. I feel like each of these tablets fills a role in the tablet market. The Kindle Fire, and tablets like it, are great “around-the-house” tablets. By this, I mean they are great to leave on the kitchen counter or coffee table to be used when you need to look something up really quickly. The iPad is great at this too. However, the iPad is also a very effective business tool as well. An iPad is great to take to meetings or on business trips in which you don’t need the power of a full laptop. I wouldn’t say that a Kindle fills this role very well.
