Being a tech blogger, I am usually all about and all over the latest tech products. I also like to find a good deal on these products as well. So, due to this, you would think I would get pretty excited about cyber Monday or even black Friday. However, I rarely get that excited about these 2 shopping events.
There are a few reasons I don’t get too excited. The first reason is that I find that many of the really good deals are on the older products. For example, I often see great deals on older or lower end laptops on cyber Monday. When it comes to these low end or older laptops, I would argue that with the right amount of research, you could find these deals all year round, or at least most of the year.
There are times that you are able to find a great product for a great price on cyber Monday or Black Friday. That leads me to the second reason I rarely buy something on these days. When there is a great deal on a hot product, there is often a limited number available. I have found it pretty tough to be one of the people that actually is able to get the great deal. One thing that many brick and mortar retailers will do, particularly on black Friday, is to have a really good deal on a really great product, but only offer 10-100 or so of them. This gets a bunch of shoppers into their store hoping to grab this great deal. Often times, these shoppers don’t get the great deal, so they end up spending money on something else in the store. For me personally, I am only really interested in that great deal. So, since I don’t have a great chance to get it, it just isn’t worth the hassle to me.
When Cyber Monday or Black Friday IS worth it
Not everyone needs the latest and greatest tech gadgets, desktops, or laptops. If you are in need of a new laptop, desktop, phone, etc and you are fine with a good product that just isn’t the best, then you are sure to find a great deal on what you are looking for. A good example would be the casual user who only users their laptop for email, word processing, and web browsing. If this user was in need of a new laptop, cyber Monday would be a good day to pick up this new laptop. Like I said above, I would argue that you could find a pretty similar deal all year round. However, if the timing works out where you need a new laptop right around cyber Monday, then you will surely get a good deal.
This is so true and you find many people buy things they simply don’t need just because it’s on offer and seems a great deal. It’s not really saving money if your buying something you didn’t need in the first place. With regards to electronics it’s rare you see a good sale on the latest technology, it does tend to be the older lines that are no longer in demand.
I agree with you 100%! From a technology standpoint, I feel as though you could potentially find great deals year round. The prices may be $15.00 more, however you don’t have to face the masses at 1:00am to get your laptop, tv, ect. I believe what gets people even more revved up is that Black Friday and Cyber Monday have come to be a sort of marker or starting line for the holiday season. They are the “Yes, it’s okay to start preparing for Christmas” enforcers. I find much better deals on simple appliances, home furnishings, or clothing.
