So, I have had the chance to play around with the iPad, and iPad mini for that matter, quite a bit lately. Generally speaking, I think the iPad is quite user friendly and generally, pretty easy to use. However, there were still a few things I wasn’t sure how do to. I decided to pick up the eBook version of iPad: The Missing Manual from Amazon to see if I could improve on my iPad knowledge.
Not to spoil my whole review, but after a combination of skimming and reading of this book, I was really impressed. The first chapter or so is a great read for beginners. I like to consider myself more of a tech expert, so I was able to skim over this a bit. I could really see this being useful for novices to the iPad or Apple in general though.
After the introduction, I was able to get into the real meat of the book. I was surprised how much I didn’t know about the iPad. This 400 page manual was very thorough. It covers topics like getting online, using email, sending messages, using apps, playing games, using it as an e-Reader, using iTunes, and more.
As I said above, there were quite a few things in this book that I didn’t even know. To be specific, this book has a very detailed section on taking, editing, and sharing photos and videos. I thought I knew all there was to know about this. However, this book really got into some of the details that I didn’t know like how to edit video and all the tools the iPad has to do so.
Easy to Read
One more positive thing I would like to say about this eBook is that it was quite easy to read and very well organized. It wasn’t filled with technical jargon that only techies would understand. The book is broken up into 16 well organized chapters. So, if you are having a problem with something specific, it is easy to find where in the book you need to look for help.
Overall, if you really want to get the most out of your iPad, I would definitely recommend iPad: The Missing Manual. It is a cheap and easy way to improve your knowledge and make your iPad a more powerful tool.
