With the holidays coming up, many shoppers are hitting the stores to find gifts. If you are trying to shop for a techie, and you are not a techie yourself, you may feel overwhelmed by all of the possible gadgets, software, tablets, etc on the market today. Remember though, gifts for techie lovers don’t actually have to be techie themselves. For example, have you thought about buying them something to put on their computer desk to look at all day? You can now make your own bobbleheads, so why not treat your tech lover to one to sit in prime position next to their monitor? Or, if you are a little wised up on technology yourself, perhaps you can look into something to add to their collection of gadgets. Let’s take a look at some great gift ideas, in multiple price ranges, for the techie.
High Price Range
Tablets
If your budget is pretty high, you have a ton of choices. The first thing you might want to look at is a tablet. The iPad, the Microsoft Surface, and the Samsung Galaxy Note are all very solid tablet choices. These all range from about $550 up past $650.
Laptop Tablet Convertibles
If your budget is even higher, and the techie you are buying for needs a new laptop, you may want to consider one of the new convertible tablet/laptops. These are essentially more powerful tablets that most techies would love. In fact, these new convertible laptops have a great possibility of replacing laptops at some point. One thing techies love is to be ahead of the curve, and this new device is ahead of the curve. This new technology comes at a price though. It will set you back $1000 at the minimum. Dell, Asus, HP, Lenovo all make solid laptop/tablet convertibles.
Medium Price Range
Kindle Fire HD and Nook HD
These 2 devices are great tablets at a much cheaper price. They both cost $199. The Kindle Fire HD and Nook HD offer great price for performance. These 2 tablets are a bit smaller and a bit less powerful than the likes of the Surface and the iPad. However, they can still do quite a lot. They are excellent for browsing the web, checking email, watching movies, listening to music, or even reading a book.
LCD TV
You can find great deals on LCD TVs around the holidays. You can also find some great prices on TVs under the 32 inch size. If your techie has a place for a smaller sized LCD TV, this would make for a great gift idea.
Low Price Range
Phone and Phone accessories
If your techie is in need of a new phone, you can find a lot of good phones under the 200 dollar price point. It would make a really good birthday present. With a new contract, you can get an iPhone for $199. Many awesome Androids can be had for $99 or less with a contract. I really like the Motorola Razr, the Samsung Galaxy Note, the Samsung Galaxy S3, and the LG Nexus. Now if you want it to be one of those personalized birthday gifts, phone accessories always make for a great present. Some options are a phone cover, a good set of headphones, or even some extra storage memory for the phone. You can make a gift like this extra special by opting for something like these personalized phone cases, as anyone receiving something that has been custom-made for them, is sure to appreciate it even more.
Headphones
If the person you are buying for is really into music, video, or even gaming, a good set of headphones make for a great gift. A few recommendations are the Sennheiser HD series, the logitech G35, and the JVC HA-RX700.
